For people whose homes do not receive enough sunlight for light-hungry plants, there are several popular indoor house plant varieties with modest sunlight needs. For example, the peace lily is a flowering plant with dark green leaves that can grow to be relatively large even if left in an out-of-the-way nook that receives indirect sunlight.
In addition, many different types of fern and ivy provide indoor house plant types that can tolerate moderate lighting, indirect light, and even artificial light. As a general rule, low light indoor house plant types tend to grow more slowly than those that require a great amount of light, so low light varieties should be chosen without an expectation that they will increase greatly in size in a month or two.
